Conspiracy ~ Monday, 25 June 2018

To sit under a tree and read a book of verse
Only the tree shakes leaves down while I read poems

Sing me a song the tree whispers into my ear
I can't believe I hear a tree speaking to me
Tell me the truth have you ever heard a tree talk

Understand this clearly I suspend disbelief
Normally when I see films at the theater
Decidedly a tree speaks to me and my ears
Ever after wonder if what they hear is real
Reason stands to question this strange situation

Arguably I stand look around and ponder

Talking trees and I stand under their canopy
Really fast all the trees quiver all their dead leaves
Elegantly on top of me until covered
Entertainingly up to my neck in wet leaves

As they command I sing a song about the rain
Noticeably they perk up to hear a hard rain
Done gonna fall fall fall and they quiver and shake

Real excited to hear a live human respond
Entertained by a voice a real human being
Answering their request they let the leaves round me
Drop but I was still bound held captive by the tree

Arguably I stand look around and ponder

By all means how I got into this bizarre mess
Only thing I could guess is that I fell asleep
Only I was standing singing under the trees
Kiss me under the trees kiss me under the stars

Only when the full moon is blue do I have dreams
Fantastic with visions uncanny and unreal

Vicious and violent the trees catch a cross-breeze
Easily scooping me above the canopy
Riding high on the sea of leaves and branches
Suddenly I plunge down to the ground and my book
Ever since then I steer clear of parks and their trees
