Next to nothing bothers Old Slim
Except when things don't go his way
Xenophanes discovered earth
The dry versus the wet water
Thoughts ancient and wise caught Slim's eyes
Obliquely across his forehead
Nothing else matters in his view
Only once in a while he lost
The cool he kept on his visage
However much we teased Old Slim
Intellect won out over time
Nothing but the Classics made sense
Given he was born in Turkey
Brilliant in wit and sharp of tongue
Only as we grew much older
Time made us grow in our respect
His esteem made us strive harder
Eternally grateful for Slim
Reason took its toll on his mind
Slim grew old and weary of words
Only a grunt for a reply
Little did we know of his life
Despite seeing him everyday
Slim was a tall man with long hands
Lean and light we wished he'd play sports
In fact we tossed a basketball
Magic struck once man could he dunk
