Billie buries our friends
under the border wall,
restless, in search of life,
in search of liberty,
exploited happiness,
dreamers beyond frontiers.
Fences make good neighbors,
restless beyond borders,
if we build good fences
even dreams have no chance,
no one bothers Billie,
despite her digging graves.
Billie swings the pick axe
until the earth breaks clean,
rugged features, her face,
indentured servitude,
endless days of digging,
dust flies in the desert.
